Opus One Moments Our Story

Why does Opus One have a home in Bordeaux?

The office of Opus One International in Bordeaux

In 2012, Opus One established Opus One International in Bordeaux, reinforcing the winery’s presence within the Place de Bordeaux. Since 2004, Opus One has been one of the few California wines distributed internationally through selected Bordeaux négociants, the wine merchants who have long defined how the world’s finest wines reach the world.

The office itself carries that history. Situated in a neighborhood where, as far back as the 18th century, merchants stored barrels, aged wine, and loaded casks onto the quays of the Garonne, the building connects the estate to the center of the fine wine trade. Today, a dedicated team manages distribution across more than 90 countries from within those same streets.

Opus One was founded as a collaboration between France and the United States. The presence in Bordeaux reflects that origin directly.

The office also welcomes wine professionals and private guests for tastings, masterclasses, small receptions in the dining room and in the salon, and larger gatherings in the stone courtyard.

Two regions. One standard.
